Happening Now

Philly Senior Stage has created many fulfilling experiences for Philadelphia area seniors, enriching the lives of residents in over 35 Philadelphia area retirement communities! In some, we taught theatre workshops and classes. In others, we established resident theatre companies or drama clubs.

Philly Senior Stage has:

* Held weekly classes at Shannondell At Valley Forge and presented  wildly successful performances to over 400 people in their residential performing arts theatre.

* Created the Actors Studio of Attleboro which culminated its season of theatre studies with evenings of short scenes and monologues about living fully in later years.

* Helped the Simpson House Players present their script-in-hand holiday productions to jubilant receptions.

* Held bi-weekly creative drama and acting workshops at Watermark at Logan Square, Bellingham, Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill and Stapeley at Germantown,

* Taught monthly workshops at Highgate at Paoli Pointe, The Lafayette-Redeemer, and Unitarian-Universalist House,

* Brought our Spark! Course and our Creative Drama Class to Martins Run, Cadbury of Cherry Hill, Spring Mill Presbyterian, Rosemont Presbyterian, Dock Woods, Maris Grove, Woodbridge, Sterling Glen, Lima Estates and others!

Philly Senior Stage also helped:

* The Actors Studio of Shannondell present an Evening of Improvisational Laughter and Mayhem. Professional improvisers from Philadelphia’s Comedy Sportz joined the troupe to take the performance way ‘over the top.’

* Attleboro Actors perform at the Senior Theatre USA festival in June.

* Simpson House Players present a show about Martin Luther King and an original play based on their life stories.

* Philly Senior Stage and Village Productions create a Senior Theatre program in several Pottstown, PA area retirement and community centers.

We can bring drama to your facility, also!

Whether your residents are active or frail, Philly Senior Stage has a program for you. The sessions can be based on stimulation using creative drama, centered on plays using script-in-hand techniques, or they can be fully staged theatrical productions. Whatever will work for your residents, we can do it!

Our introductory drama course, the eight-week SPARK class, is especially popular. We supply the instructor and all the materials. To help you get the word out, we provide the publicity flyers and a blurb for your newsletter.
